The Best Way to Cook Rice

When it comes to cooking rice, there are a lot of different methods out there to Cook Rice. So, how do you know which one is the best? It really depends on what kind of rice you’re cooking and what kind of pot you’re using. In this blog post, we’ll give you a rundown of the different methods for cooking rice so that you can decide which one is best for you.

Method #1: The Absorption Method
The absorption method is the most common method for cooking rice. It’s simple and straightforward, and it usually yields pretty good results. To cook rice using the absorption method, you’ll need to add the rice and water to your pot in a 1:1 ratio. For example, if you’re using 1 cup of rice, then you’ll need to add 1 cup of water.

Once the water has come to a boil, reduce the heat to low and put a lid on the pot. Let the rice simmer until all of the water has been absorbed—this should take about 20 minutes. Once the water has been absorbed, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork. Then, put the lid back on and let the rice sit for 5 more minutes before serving.

The boil-and-drain method is similar to the absorption method, but it yields slightly fluffier results. To cook rice using the boil-and-drain method, start by adding twice as much water as rice to your pot. So, if you’re using 1 cup of rice, then you’ll need 2 cups of water.

 

Bring the pot of water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and add your rice. Let the rice simmer until it’s cooked through—this should take about 10 minutes. Once the rice is cooked, drain it in a colander or strainer. Then, return it to the pot and put a lid on it. Let it sit for 5 more minutes before serving.

If you have a pressure cooker, then cooking rice is a breeze! Start by adding your desired amount of water to your pot—you’ll need about 1/4 cup less water than usual since the pressure cooker will trap some of the steam while cooking. So, if you’re using 1 cup of rice, then you’d add 3/4 cup of water.

Next, add your rice and stir everything together so that the grains are coated in water. Put the lid on your pressure cooker and set it to high pressure. Cook for 6 minutes if you’re using white or basmati rice or 8 minutes if you’re using brown rice. Once time is up, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes before quick-releasing any remaining pressure. Fluff with a fork and serve!
